Rocketmen: Axis of Evil from Capcom for Xbox Live Arcade Review Quick Hit
Rocketmen: Axis of Evil from Capcom for Xbox Live Arcade Review Quick Hit

Rocketmen: Axis of Evil is a venture into the old school of gaming harkening back to the days we spent blowing quarters in the arcade. Basically it's a scrolling shooter with simple controls (one stick moves, the other shoots). Initally it felt like the first time I played Robotron: 2084 but that feeling passes as you need to pick up power ups which then makes this feel like a round of Total Carnage. The new aspect is in the character customization where you get to build up their look and armor up. Using in game currency lets you upgrade just about ever aspect of your character stats, weapons and armor.

The infinite continues seemed like a great thing at first but after a 3 hour clip of playing I was feeling burnt out and really starting to hate the game. Going back later it was enjoyable again but only in short bursts which in essence is what Live Arcade is all about.

It's not gonna blow your mind in any way but it is a nice distraction and not a bad value for your 10 bucks.

Rating - 7 stars (Above average)
